Eastern Tandem Rally 2017
Friday, August 4
8am – 8pm Registration
Pick up information, cue sheets and jersey if you ordered one.
Courtyard by Marriott lobby/ballroom
Any time Head out for a ride! Ride the Vermont countryside and earn bragging rights (and maybe a prize) by completing the three designated “steeps” and recording them on your STRAVA app. If you are not a data junkie or this level of tech monitoring isn’t your thing, just enjoy the rolling countryside and great vistas.
Lunch On your own. We have routed you through the very picturesque Woodstock, Vermont, home of many sandwich shops and restaurants. Additionally, you’ll pass several small general stores on your travels for provisioning on the fly.
Dinner On your own. There is a restaurant guide in the rally packet. We suggest making reservations if timing is important.
7 – 8:30pm Gelato social
Courtyard by Marriott lobby
Enjoy sublime locally made gelato and sorbet while you catch up with friends and introduce yourselves to our first-time attendees.
7:45pm Captain’s notes at the social
Don’t miss our introduction to Saturday’s rides, along with any last-minute updates.
Saturday, August 5
Celebrate ETR by wearing your ETR jersey! This year’s, last year’s, your favorite year’s.
7 – 9am Breakfast at your hotel
Café at Residence Inn for all Residence Inn guests (bring your hotel key).
Ballroom at Courtyard by Marriott only for Marriott guests who booked their room through the ETR block (bring the ticket in your packet). We’re sorry, but we’re not able to provide breakfast to Marriott guests who booked their rooms outside the ETR block (using third-party websites or loyalty points, for instance). Please visit the café in the hotel lobby for breakfast options.
8 – 9am Registration
Courtyard by Marriott lobby/ballroom
After 9am, we will leave bags for anyone who has not yet registered.
Morning Rolling start on your own. To keep these narrow country roads “bike-friendly” we are rolling out in waves. All starts are from the hotels.
9:30am Rest stops open
Fairlee Town Common and on River Rd. in Lyme, N.H (water stop), just south of the bridge from East Thetford
11am – 2pm Lunch
King Arthur Flour, 135 US Route 5 South, Norwich, Vermont
Our lunch will be on the back porch. If you make purchases, leave them at the register with your name and we’ll shuttle them back to ETR registration at the Courtyard by Marriott.
3pm Swap meet
Parking lot below Residence Inn
Bring tandem-related items to swap or sell, and check out merchandise from Tandems East, which will also have mechanical support on site.
3:30pm ETR board meeting: open to all
Courtyard by Marriott ballroom
5:30pm Cocktails: Remember your dinner and drink tickets!
Fireside Inn and Suites, 25 Airport Rd. in West Lebanon
The Fireside is about five miles from the rally hotels. It can be tricky to navigate your way to the entrance; set your GPS and pay attention! Ask Brent to tell you why it’s set back from the road so strangely.
6:30pm Dinner, followed by announcements, including captain’s notes for Sunday’s rides
Fireside Inn and Suites
8pm New England contra dance
Fireside Inn and Suites
David Millstone (fun fact: Brent Bell’s fourth-grade teacher!), a terrific and well-known contra dance teacher and caller, along with his talented band, will lead us through some traditional New England dances. This is something everyone can do (no talent needed!) and is sure to wrap up the evening with good memories and laughs.
Sunday, August 6
Wear your club jersey or your hometown favorite. Watch out for NEWTS!
7 – 9am Breakfast at your hotel; see Saturday breakfast for details
Morning Rolling start on your own. Today’s rides take us to Mascoma Lake.
11am Boxed lunches are ready at Courtyard by Marriot to take with you or enjoy on site before you head out.
Please leave your name badges in the box at lunch (or give to a friend to return). This has been an environmental and economic win for our rally from year to year.
Thanks for riding with us! See you at ETR 2018.
