ETR 2024 – June 7-9, Gettysburg, PA

Sunday Rides – June 17

Sunday, June 17 is the final day of ETR. All Sunday rides will have a mass start at the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel at 8:30 a.m. Instead of circling the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area, we will head south on Henry Street and enter the Colonial Parkway at mile 3.1. The Colonial Parkway is part of the National Colonial Historical Park which includes the original fort site at Jamestown and the Yorktown Battlefield. All rides will traverse the Colonial Parkway for seven miles of beautiful scenery and views along the James River, exiting at the Jamestown Settlement. It is a requirement of the National Park Service that cyclists ride single file on the Colonial Parkway. This rule is enforced, and they do give out tickets. Each ride has a detailed map and cue sheet, plus a link to the RideWithGPS file. Rides are also listed on the RideWithGPS Event Page for the Eastern Tandem Rally. Printed map and cue sheets will be available at registration.

Reed & Karen on the Colonial Parkway

The 22-Mile Ride hops on the Virginia Capital Trail after exiting the Colonial Parkway. There is a store stop at mile 12.9 at Spoke & Art Provision Co., a bicycle-themed community gathering spot located on the Virginia Capital Trail (any purchases made before 11 am will be taken back to the Hotel for pickup with your box lunch). Following the store stop, the route retraces a portion of the Virginia Capital Trail, and takes a variety of local roads back to the hotel for a boxed lunch.

The 29-Mile Ride adds a seven mile loop to the 22-mile ride, with the Spoke & Art Provision Co. store stop at mile 20.4 (any purchases made before 11 am will be taken back to the Hotel for pickup with your box lunch). Brickbat Road is one of Reed & Karen’s favorites, with a nice long and fast downhill in the middle. There is an optional store stop at mile 23.

The 43-Mile Ride adds a 14 mile loop to the 29-mile ride, with the Spoke & Art Provision Co. store stop at mile 34.4 (any purchases made before 11 am will be taken back to the Hotel for pickup with your box lunch). Other optional store stops are located at miles 15.8, 26.1 and 37.7. This ride includes Jolly Pond Road, one of the nicest cycling loops in the area.

The Boxed Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Cedar Room at the Williamsburg Woodlands Conference Center, located behind the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel just past the swimming pool.

Detailed maps and cue sheets and downloadable .gpx files will be provided closer to the Rally. All rides were laid out using RideWithGPS.
