As a bonus, the DOGS hosted a second Offroad rally in the fall of 2008, a return for a few of us to old stomping grounds at Minneswaska-Mohonk for the first time in some years. This proved to be a trial run for the Eastern Tandem Offroad Rally, which would return to Minnewaska State Park and the Mohonk Preserve several years in a row. Unfortunately, in 2012, the Mohonk Preserve acquired a dastardly new machine for compacting gravel into virtual gravel highways, which while (debatably) good for hiking, made the carriage trails woefully tame and boring on a bike. 2012 will be our last year until time and erosion have a chance to catch up with this situation.
