MINI RALLIES ARE A NEW CONCEPT FOR ETR. THIS PAGE IS IN DRAFT AND STILL NEEDS A LOT OF WORK. STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFO…
Mini Rallies are simple, small gatherings, up to 20 teams or so, where the host just puts together some routes and picks some dates, and the rest is up to the participants.
These are designed to be really easy to run gatherings, run under the banner of the ETR organization. ETR basically provides insurance (through the League of American Bicyclists) and a means of advertising (this website and our mailing list).
Interested in Running a Mini Rally?
The hosts have the following responsibilities:
- Pick a location
- Pick some dates – weekdays, weekends, whatever works for you
- Create some routes. Show off where you live or where you like to ride.
- Once we put the info up on the ETR site and send out a mailing, people that want to come will send the hosts a filled out PDF with their information.
- It will be made clear that the attendees should secure lodging on their own.
- If the hosts want to limit the size of the rally, that can be posted with the rally info and the hosts will have to turn people away once the limit has been reached.
- At the start of the mini rally, the host will get each attendee to sign a standard waiver form.
- At the end of the mini rally, the hosts will report the number of attendees that showed up so that the ETR organization can pay the insurance. To get this new concept started, ETR will pick up the insurance cost. If this concept takes off, we will ask participants to pay for the insurance (currently about $15 per person).
- The host can optionally recommend a hotel and some nearby restaurants, but that is not required.
If you would like to host a mini rally, please send an email to easterntandemrally at gmail dot com (you know how to fix that 🙂 with what you have in mind. We’ll send you a form to fill out and the ETR board of directors will review it. If we OK it, we will post it below on this page and send an email out to the ETR mailing list.
